Why can't maxisys comunicate with this truck?

We have noticed that an updated maxisys will not communicate with several models and makes of vehicles and this is one of them. We have a ten year old diagnostic computer that will. Doesn't make any sense. Especially after an $800.00 update. We need the maxisys to do it's job so we can do ours. The older system would get into a 2014 nissan and diagnose and clear codes and maxisys would not. Please help. Thanks
