Hello all, this is all new to me so excuse the ignorance but i would like to confirm that if I clear the fault codes for  ews veh immobilizer on an e46 bmw that I will not be erasing the key from the system.
I have dtc codes 0f,00,01 which indicate key is not identified yet car starts w/key.  So i don't want to erase the immobilizer system.  I have no way to reprogram the key

You can clean the DTC. I think you have a function in Services, to pair up the EWS with KEY. In that cars that is normal to happen. Please give it a try. I done that few weeks ago.

So even if it was erased from memory.  I can pair the key with the ews using the das708?

I think it's possible to do with DS708. But I only tried with Maxisys.

Is it a current code or an old one.

First of all; clearing codes does not erase your key's from the immobiliser/EWS. That would be a seperate function.

If the codes come back, it might be usefull to get into it further (synchronising the keys for instance).

You are right. One thing is clear DTC other thing is clear Key. I know, that function is available in Maxisys, but in Maxidas I don't know.
