BMW 2002 330d Touring Error LInking OBD2 but seems to scan ? Is this normal ?

     Does not seem to want to link with OBD2 but seems to communicate in scan mode ! Is this normal ? Am I any less able to benefit from using this tool due to this ?

     what exactly is the problem can you communicate with all modules and do you have both 38&16 pin sockets
