Lol, I think support is generally a bunch of experts in computer language and Geeks that know how to check for application errors in the existing programs after they modify the copied OE software to work with in another type of format  to appear  different after removing certain sectors that the  legal department thinks might be in contention .You are not dealing with a bunch of automobile engineers that actually Beta test the software in the field . They shy away from very technical or questions that might get them in a trick bag situation.
  Fix the problem that is causing the airbag code and you should be able to clear the codes , but not the crash data if the bags deployed.

 witsend is correct you can erase fault codes but crash data is locked on the eprom only way to remove that is remove the eprom and overwrite the crash data..
