yes the passlock can be tested like everything else. before you get to involved with a passlock issue make sure the security light come on on the dash and goes out within a couple of seconds, if it does you have no passlock issue. if the light does not come on or if it stays on then you do have a passlock related problem in your hands and you should check all fuses first and trouble codes stored in ecm and bcm. a passlock related problem on this older vehicles will allow you to start the car for one second then it turns off do to disable injection pulse. if your vehicle never starts with no spark and or no fuel/injection pulse condition, then that is a different problem completely. a passlock issue will set a code in the ecm and bcm or evo/passlock control module, depending on the system/vehicle you working on, in this case is a bcm controlled system. some vehicles , specially newer one , it will disable the starter as well. to read the data go to bcm/data/security data or passlock data,and there you will find what your looking for hopefully. good luck. also this system can be bypass for good as long as the bcm and ecm is good by installing a resistor across the passlock sensor, many videos on youtube about it if your interested.
