how to register battery on BMW E90 on maxicheck pro.

     Tried to register new battery (non oem) on BMW 328i drive and the tool would not update.  Says it is not communicating with car.  Tried with car off, car on but not running, and engine running.  Updated firmware.  This tool has done nothing yet.  Looks like a waste of money
