I don't think it can do BMW keys , but Yes the Elite can program only some keys and remotes of other makes but in many cases you will have to get the PIN code from the dealer to enter before you can program a key.The IM508 can pull the PIN #s on more cars and program keys but as far as diagnostics go, the IM508 is just pretty basic with codes and data.

 The IM608 has the same diagnostic abilities as the Elite and can pull more PIN codes and program more European makes keys and remotes than the Pro and Elite can and has a J2534 like the 908 Pro and Elite has , but  DOES NOT HAVE The Online Programming of BMW and Mercedes Benz off the IM608 Tablet like the MS908P and the MS908E offers and does not come with 2 years of Updates like the MS908 Elite at this time.

 If not for 2 years of updates I probably would have gotten the IM608 versus MS908E , but at this time I have cost obligations and the  newer  IM608 sells for  considerably more than the MS908E. I don't believe the IM608 is officially distributed by  USA dealers yet. For me ,It is desirable to have full Autel USA support should I have to send in a unit with a warranty issue, likely call and get quicker help from USA and an RGA  to ship unit to New York for repairs versus shipping it off to Mainland China for repairs.

   I figure the present purchase cost difference between the IM608 and MS908E plus getting that extra year of updates with MS908E it was a No Brainer for me. If I factored in the present cost difference, plus what another year of updates would cost me for an IM608 to give it the same update time as MS908E, I could buy a IM508 and the Elite and not give up the  BMW and Mercedes programming capability the MS908 E offers that the IM608 lacks at this time.
