Sounds like a Fiatskull. Did you look inside the cylinder with a Maxiscope or bring #2 piston to TDC on the compression stroke and do a cylinder leakage test. If a rod has bent from a hydrolock event , the piston will no longer come up as high at TDC as the other pistons at TDC.
