     How come the MP808K needs to be connected to my vehicle for a firmware update?

     Yes you have to connect the the car to get powered to your internal interface system also connected to the internet as well

    Why can't he plug in it's AC power adapter? Is that not able to supply sufficient enough power ?

     So basically the updates are the same as firmware. Internet has more information than the manual that came with the device. Updated and backed up on 32GB micro sd card. Thanks for the help
