New MX sensors show sensor 'Failed'

     Are brand new never used MX sensors supposed to show sensor 'Failed' when scanned the first time before programing? How do you know the battery is good before programing?

      If they haven't been programmed yet ,they can't display an ID yet if you attempt to read them in a normal fashion, however on my TS401 menu under tool kit, I believe there might be something there to read MX sensor.
