I have an 2003 evo 8 and my mx808 says the same thing for me. I have had my scanner for about 3yrs now. When I first bought my scanner it has only pulled my vin one time, and then I started getting updates and it hasn't read it since. I have spoken to an old tech that worked for Mitsubishi and he said that a good possible reason to why is around 2004/2005 some of the onboard systems had changed and they had some difficulties reading from the obd at the dealerships until their systems had updated to a new platform. I have ask this same question as well with anyone with autel, but I haven't got any feedback. Hopefully this might shed some light to your question.
