Download maxi link 2 update program from online Autel website. Do not use the CD. Download the most recent ts401 update zip folder. (Currently V5.31) open zip folder and make copy to desktop of aut. File and bin. file, use mouse right click and select make copy hold down "mouse" or cursor button and move file to desk top, makes copy automatically(easier to find and select file to update).

 

While holding down power and N button on TS401 plug in USB cord to TS401.....should go in to update mode, open maxi link, should show green window in upper right if connected correctly. Select TS401 on left side bar of maxi link program. Select bin. File on top update, and then select aut. File on the bottom from where copied to desktop. 

Click on "update" for top bin file, allow update to be performed then click on bottom window update for bin file. 

Note: last time I did update, had to keep resetting to update mode after update for bin file was completed successfully, 

Kept getting messages like, wrong device, communication failure, etc. 

Had to restart 3 to 4 times, finally update worked and was successful. Had to change TS401 settings from global to US, and all other settings, like psi, Fahrenheit degrees instead of Celsius and hexadecimal etc.
