I didn't realize the c/u initialization was the actual programming of the key. I was expecting to see a menu item to add or register key. I was able to program 06 altima key with no problem after reading your posts. Will try I key on a 2009 altima. Thank you ede65.

I am having trouble on a 11 altima. Steering unlock works. c/u initialzation works and it then tells you to input code and press start. If it is on, it tells me it failed. If it is off, it says tester cant communicate. This step must have to be pretty quick or almost at the same time. I did get it to work one time and the key programed but the original didn't work after that. Also the non programed  key stopped turning the switch on all together, It says no key. Before it would turn on the switch but not start the car. Do you have any suggestions? thanks

I can program only 1 key on the 11 altima. You do the steering unlock and it erases the keys. Initialize ecu and it programs 1 key. It then tells you to refer to operational manual for additional keys. I don't have a operational manual. Do you have any ideas? I did manage to get it locked and had to unhook the battery for a few minutes. The altima has a key slot and a push button. Do you know how to unlock without unhooking the battery?

I tried to do the 2nd key under initialization. It registers that key and deletes the 1st one. I will look under bcm tomorrow. Thanks for your help.
