The one year update period expires exactly one year after the DS 708 was first registered, whether or not you haven't powered on the device and used it for close to a year is not going to make a difference for giving you any additional time to do updates your device if it already a year old. My DS 708 update period expired back in August 2014 and Chrysler version now is still at same version 7.11 it was in 2014. Ford version only went from V9.00 to V9.13. If you think you still have time left to your one year update period and your DS708 still works ok, you better remove your SD card and create backup software. Copy and paste the SD card to a folder on a PC . Buy a new 16GB class 10 SD card , put it in your PC and format the New SD card in FAT32. Copy the back up software in the folder of your pc onto the new formatted SD card. Eject the new SD card. Put the new SD card with the copied software in the USB card reader. Open your DS708 software suite on your PC, plug in the new SD card with the copied software in the USB card reader and plug into the your PC, and see if your software suite tells you there are available updates and update what's available or just what you need, but only one car make at a time. Save the older working SD card as your back up software. If you are expired it can no longer update , it will likely just say, there are no updates available.
