  There should be something on their server that saves a Snap Shot of all the car App numeric version levels for the Serial number of each tablet at time of update expiration date so if you ever need to reset the tablet and restore the scan folder from backup there should be clear instructions on how to do this procedure. As long as the server sees car app versions equal to  or below what it had at update expiration , you should be allowed to access your backup software on your tablet again without having to buy an update to do so.
