I agree that the Chinese car stack shouldn't be region locked at all and firmly believe it's a way of Autel limiting who (as in people who can mass produce unlicensed clones) can gain their diagnostics information. Nevertheless, I don't believe for a second that there's a law that says a company who makes automotive diagnostics tools has to supply profiles for every vehicle on the market to every audience. That's why we have so many vendor-specific tools and diagnostics with limited vehicle support. Autel's free to do what they want with their products so long as it's legally done (and the litigation by Ford and backpedaling of Autel is an example where they've infringed). Perhaps I'm misunderstanding the point, however.
I don't like the lack of Chinese vehicle support, but enabling the "Domestic" (Chinese) category in the software isn't hard to do, even though it can't be populated with vehicle profiles due to these annoying, unnecessarily imposed, region limits.
