Autel's currently under litigation surrounding alleged misuse of the Ford logo and intellectual property involving a software stack used in the diagnostics process. In black and white, the claim has some weight, so let's hope everything plays out fairly during the judicial process. Stoic response aside, I'm not particularly fond of handing large sums of money over for stolen material (as opposed to legally cloned protocols, APIs, and code) and I'm also not eager to see it suddenly disappear either. So this could get ugly for the customers more-so than Autel if the matter doesn't resolve in Autel's favor. A win by Ford potentially opens the door for other automotive companies to follow suit since the legal waters will have been tested. I wouldn't be surprised if we see a facelift of company logos or price increase to purchase the rights and lease components if that happens, but I'm speculating. If Autel's in the right, then more power to them and its customers.
