Instructions to relearn throttle body control

     I'm new to the Maxds 708 (just purchased) & I need help.
    I'm trying to relearn the the throttle body control on a 1999 Audi A6 avant.
    When I hook up to obd port it does not automatically Id the car & when I enter the info & need to choose an engine my engine number that starts with AHA is not there.
    When I go to basic settings the machine wants a channel number & I have no idea what to enter.
    I've watched some you tube videos of this procedure but none of them start from the very beginning of this procedure. 
    I need instructions from the beginning.   Can anyone point me in the right direction to find instructions???
