I think the original post was asking about the Key Fob (Remote Fob) and not the Key........as far as I know the early models could be programmed without the pin codes......the new once are the one you need the pin code to program the remote fob only....

 that is correct the earlier ones can be added through the "adtaption" cannel with no "pin"
