In function viewer and vehicle coverage I could not find any listed functions for Malibu between model year 2005 and model year 2012, so just figure on the tool is a Hit or Miss  glorified code reader between those model years if replace ECU or write VIN is not found listed under special functions in Diagnostics , Service , or Hot Functions..LMAO. Maybe if you don't have J2534 a windows laptop and a OE sub , you can send out the ECM and have the VIN wrote to it. There also will be key learning required afterwards.
