problems with the update client

the update client have many problems,
when i start it the program needs a long time to load, then there is no respond. After a long time of waiting the client shows me which programs are installed. Then i want to unistall some old programs and then come a massage "uninstall failed" and then again no respond. After another long time of waiting the program runs again.
What are the problems.
