That depends on the model of Ford. The Escape for 2014-2016 keyed ignition is the same. The Prox models are different. Yes you can Onboard program the Escape with a keyed ignition. Technology changes daily, CORRECT info is the key to start the car. Every car has different programming for keys. Same thing for programming modules, remotes, TPMS, etc. No one tool can cover all things for all makes. It would be nice, but alas, it will never happen. The 2013 Fusion and many other newer Ford products need the new system.
