yes it has been the case for years now. on every single update they either take away something or mess something up, the reason backing up your tool as many times as possible is always a good idea. I have a ds708 from 2012, a maxi sys 905 from 2014,2015/ old software and a new 908 elite with multiple back ups. I don't do an update unless I back up my unit first. old units unplugged from the network just in case. if you have a month or less left on your sub, do not update, they are known to killed many tools. never update on a wireless network, connect to a land line if possible, power supply connected, one update at a time specially if they are bigger lets say 500 mb in size. I keep multiple versions of software on the tool for this purpose, one version don't work, I try the other one, (keep in mind this will use a lot of space on your tools sd card/sdd), just rename the folders to something else so they wont get updated. good luck to all.
