The XP400 has been superseded by the XP400 Pro but I know I recently updated my XP 400 programmer through my IM508 via the provided USB cable, whether or not it makes a difference how the XP400 will work off some PC based program, I don't know, but I do know there have been some updates to the XP400 programmer. You just might have to do it from an IM508 or IM608 with a current update subscription. Couldn't say if it will continue to work off your PC based Program if you update it though, because I've only use the XP400 off my IM508 so far.
